  • Abstract : Comparison according to plant material (30-45 cm tissue culture plants and pared conical suckers) was performed at 3 sites in the Davao region in the Philippines on the same type of soil (Tugbo clay series). The vegetative and reproductive phases were observed for 2 cycles. Two different treatments were applied in cultivation: traditional management and an improved technique with fertilisation and crop protection. Performance of the tissue culture banana plants was at least as good or better than that of the plants grown from suckers. Cultural method had a dominant effect.
