• Abstract : A 28.5 percent higher yield was observed in a preliminary trial using tissue culture 'Dwarf Cavendish' in comparison with the same cultivar grown from conventional sucker material. Confirmation was needed before recommendations could be given to producers. Trials at Burgershall with three different planting dates (Jan. 1988, Dec. 1988 and Nov. 1989) showed 11 to 12 percent better yields from bananas grown from tissue culture material.

"Dwarf Cavendish", on avait constaté une augmentation du rendement de 28,5 pourcent des bananiers issus de culture in vitro, par rapport à ceux issus de matériel végétal conventionnel (rejets). Avant de conseiller les producteurs, des confirmations étaient nécessaires. Des essais avec 3 dates de plantations différentes : 1-1988, 12-1988 et 11-1989, ont donné, à Burgershall, des gains de récolte de 11 à 12 pourcent pour les bananiers issus de culture in vitro.]
