  • Abstract : Ethnobotany of Pohnpei examines the relationship between plants, people, and traditional culture on Pohnpei, one of the four island members of the Federated States of Micronesia. The chapter on the banana focuses focuses on information obtained from the main island of Pohnpei, where the crop grows best and is at its most diverse. However, banana is also highly valued on Pohnpei atolls. The authors also discuss the results of nutritional studies of other local foods, as they are interlinked as part of the traditional Pohnpeian diet.
