  • Abstract : A general report of the expedition, of which the botanical results from the subject matter of this paper, has been given elsewhere. Results are set out in taxonomic order and, though they are mainly founded for observations and collections, the opportunity is taken to cite some collections from the herbaria and to discuss certain relatcd problems from the literature. Collections were made at low altitude unless otherwise stated. Musa alone is treated here; discussion on Ensete must be deferred until a later date. Each collection made in the course of the expedition was assigned a B.E. (Banana Expedition) number. Varieties collected: 'banksii', 'malaccensis', 'siamea', 'microcarpa', 'burmannica', 'flaviflora', 'balbisiana', 'itinerans', 'schizocarpa', 'fitzalani', 'charlioi', 'nagensium', 'sikkimensis', 'cheesmani', 'velutina', 'maclayi', 'jackeyi', 'angustigemma', 'violascens' and 'gracilis'.
