• Abstract : This report gives details of the material collected during the first IBPGR-QDPI banana germplasm collecting mission to Papua New Guinea. The aims of the project supporting these missions are: 1) to collect indigenous diploid AA banana cultivars and wild Musa species, and to gain some knowledge of the genetic diversity within these species; 2) to tissue culture and disease index the collected germplasm; and 3) to distribute the germplasm to IBPGR designated genebanks and to banana breeding programmes.
